I’ve been loving a patisserie these days! I was walking down Byres Road and due to the beautiful “spring” weather I was frozen solid. I was absolutely desperate for some warmth and a cuppa! After my Patisserie Valerie experience, I only had to see the word ‘patisserie’ and a cabinet of cakes in the window to be magnetically drawn in!
An arty photo of the outside! I forgot to take a picture outside!
Indoors it’s a cosy tearoom – I did expect it to be more of a boutique and more ‘French’, but it was warm and seemed cute enough. The ceilings are Victorian styled with absolutely gorgeous leaf chandeliers! I want one.
Around the cafe are cabinets of home baking, sweets, syrups, coffee, sandwiches, juice and then towards the back of the room there are some pieces of handmade jewellery. I reminded me of tearooms found up north!
I was also pleased to see that they have some ‘free from’ options!
I ordered my standard pot of tea, like the tea Jenny I am, and my friend got a latte. We then chose some cake that had grabbed our attention:
Vanilla Mousse Cake topped with Marshmallows
Chocolate Mousse Cake topped with Meringue
Both were served with a big dollop of swirled cream and coated in chocolate powder. The mousses were both so light and creamy – even though I’d already eaten a decent lunch, they went down an absolute treat. They weren’t posh or overly fancy – good ‘n’ proper home-baking style cakes. The cakes in general looked nice but simple.
This is a short post but I deem it a worthy one. I havent tried any of their food so I can’t comment on that, but I’d definitely recommend Patisserie Françoise for a quick cuppa and a hand made cakes – for both of us it came to just under £10! Bargain!
